Scotland has adopted the custom of the bride donating “favours” to guests at the wedding. This custom has its origins in Italy, where the favours are called “bonboniere”. Originally, tulle, to match the wedding theme was used to tie up sugared almonds – symbols of health, happiness, fertility, wealth & prosperity.
Nowadays “favours” are many and varied – from individually crafted boxes with hand-made chocolates or toffee/tablet inside – to candles, glass items and even miniatures of whisky being used for the man, or if the wedding is a kilted affair, or if there is a Celtic connection.
Some favours are personalised with the groom or brides’ names & date of the wedding. More recently candles have become popular. Should you wish to show ever favours on your guests, do not delay in contacting us. We will arrange a consultation with you in order to show you our designs, or will create for you those of your dreams.
